THE EDEN PROJECT

Whilst staying at Lytherva why not visit the EDEN project - about a 45 minute away by car.

The EDEN Project is already being called the 8th wonder of the world. Over 500,000 people visited the site whilst it was being built. Located in a 50 metre crater overlooking St. Austell Bay are two huge geodesic conservatories - one a majestic rainforest - the Humid Tropics Biome - the other is a Warm Temperature Biome.

The Humid Tropics Biome at 200 metres long, 100 metres wide and 47 metres high is the World's largest greenhouse packed with giants of the plant world balsa, teak and mahogany whilst in the Warm Temperature Biome are plants , fruits and flowers of the Mediterranean, South Africa and California.

Outside the Biomes the landscape has been described as "Picasso meets the Aztecs" with a series of interlocking crescent shaped terraces which tell the stories of plants that have both changed the world and plants which may prove crucial to our future.
